5th Sofia Pride will take place at June 30th 2012!

The Organizing Committee of Sofia Pride 2012 announced some details about the fifth Bulgarian LGBT pride – the biggest yearly event of the Bulgarian LGBT community.

Combining both socio-political protest and open air party the equality march will take place in Bulgaria’s capital city on June 30th. European politicians, diplomats, Bulgarian and international organisations and hundreds of people from Bulgaria and abroad willing to live in a homophobia-free society will participate. The event will finish with a concert of famous Bulgarian singers who support equality and dignity of all people regardless their sexual orientation and gender identity.

The official headline of the event is “Let you colors come out”. It is kind of call-to-action for the several hundred thousand Bulgarian non-heterosexual Bulgarians to overcome their fears and to stop being ashamed of their sexuality. It is a call for them to come out before their families, friends and colleagues.

As in previous years the pride will be preceded by LGBT cultural week. Sofia Pride Film Fest will present for first time several movies from different parts of the world, all of them telling stories about the life and problems of LGBT people. Sofia Pride Cultural Week will be a place for contribution from artist dealing with the visual arts.

Since Sofia Pride is being organised by civil initiative of volunteers all the budget is being raised with donations from NGOs, diplomatic missions, private companies and civil people. Organisers wish to ask the LGBT community and its friends to help with financing planned events:
